The Crosswalks is a multi-family residential community in Midtown Kansas City, composed of four apartment buildings at the intersection of Armour and Troost. In addition to housing, the development includes retail, a co-op market, coworking areas, and shared community spaces, along with a swim and social club — all designed to feel connected to the neighborhood rather than set apart as another high-rise development. Working from the architectural master plan by Kansas City firm Helix, we developed environmental and experiential design elements that extended their vision into the brand and built environment. In collaboration with Silliman Group and Kansas City agency Design Ranch, we worked on environmental and marketing efforts, developing the intersection design and signage system as key placemaking elements — visually distinctive while working cohesively across the property to engage and invite both residents and neighbors. We also collaborated with the client’s marketing team to extend the brand online and in print, creating materials that reflect the identity and vision of the community.
